Position Description              

Our client in Bellevue, WA is exciting, growing and successful.  This position is in a division that is rolling out new products and services to clients.  You would have high visibility and the opportunity, and expectation, to have a large impact on the enterprise platform, architecture and direction. They are seeking an SOA Expert- Architect to drive the design and delivery of a transactional, highly available, scalable, and flexible service oriented architecture platform. You will be directly involved in establishing application architecture, best practices and evangelizing them as they move the organization into a SOA development paradigm. In this role you can look forward to…

• Providing technical leadership as they move to an SOA Architecture and a new technology platform.
• Leading application architecture and design to meet business goals as well as scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Delivering core systems for the global platform.
• Establishing company-wide guidelines, best practices, usage patterns, and development paradigms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Track, evaluate, and drive adoption and integration of appropriate technologies and best practices to enable rapid assimilation and leverage.
• Collaborate with other technical leaders around the company to set standards.
• Work closely with program management, development, quality assurance, and database teams to provide technical guidelines and deliver projects.
• Ensuring all delivered projects meet defined guidelines and quality criteria.

What you bring to the Team…

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in software development teams.
• Experience with server-side web application development frameworks, environments, and technologies such as Spring, REST, JMS, Hibernate, Java, C++.
• Practical experience with open source and commercial application frameworks that enable design, development, testing, and deployment of web services and SOA.
• Proficiency with XML standards / protocols as well as developing XSDs.
• Design documentation experience including applying UML in the design process.
• Very strong knowledge of software development life cycles; e-commerce website experience a definite plus.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated analysis and innovative problem solving skills using a systems thinking approach.
• Experience with successfully implementing large change initiatives within an organization.

• Constantly alert to opportunities for process improvement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation and persuasion skills.
• Knowledge of SOA implementations is highly desirable.
